Seven Treasures on a Patriotic Quilt

Hi,
Georgene let me show you this quilt.

"A guy pieced this quilt -- his second. He asked for wool batting because he likes the puffiness. And, he asked for the Circle Lord Seven Treasures template.
I was pleasantly surprised at how well that design worked on this quilt."

7 Treasures of Buddha Template Intro

The 7 Treasures of Buddha is a classic Sashiko pattern. This Circle Lord template lets you do it edge-to-edge and 12 inches high in continuous stitching. The circles are 6" in diameter. The diamonds are filled as you do the circles by diverting into a groove to the diamond and coming back out the same groove. The faster you go, the smoother the stitching.
Includes instructions for various patterns that can be done with this template.
Below is an introduction, "hot off the press" in pictures. More will come later.

Asian quilt by Meg Marshall

Kay and I were so pleased with Meg's Asian quilt. This is her 3rd quilt.

"The Asian quilt was a lot of work - SID, ruler, CL (love the 7 Treasures) and freehand. I may keep this (my colors) or it might become another Christmas gift"

"As a beginner, I wanted to do something within my present ability and this seemed right. Initially, the hard part was keeping the circles within the inner borders & using SID method moving from one area to another along the borders. Not perfect, but I think I did pretty well. Once I had finished the basic template, I had to figure out the border. I had seen another person use designs within the circles of the 7 Treasures and this gave me the idea to freehand the bamboo/leaf effect within the diamonds of the 7 Treasures and coordinate this with my border. I can't do a good feather yet, but could do this and this is more appropriate for this quilt anyway. I think this extra design element really added and I am pleased, but I am very excited about starting to finish quilts after just of a month of LA'ing. The CL has been a hugh help. Love the whole concept and I know I will be ordering more!!!"

"To me, it just shows that even us newbies can get up and running without forever stressing. Need lots of PPP in lots of areas, but at least I am able to get going. It is just so exciting!!

Joyce's 7 Treasures by Carol Lyon and More

King $499.00 129 inches

Queen $449.00 86 inches

Joyce Corker quilt

"Wow, I just got my 7 Treasures of Buddha a couple of weeks ago and already I have scheduled my 4th quilt with that pattern. I haven't even really advertised the template yet. I did do a shop quilt with that pattern and took it back to the shop already. It will be interesting to see how it goes over. But while using the template on a quilt I had on the machine, a couple of customers came to drop off quilts and fell in love with it. We don't get many walk-ins here so I wonder what will happen after I add the pictures to the books in the quilt shops. This one seems to be more popular than I thought it would. :D:D:D This one is a keeper"

"For once the customer picked the pattern for her quilt. It isn't an oriental quilt but the CL 7 Treasures of Budda template looks wonderful on it anyway. This template is every bit as fast as the Swirls and Clam. I am loving this template and it's a good thing. This is number 6 in the last 2 weeks and I have one more to go. Customers seem to love it also."

3 inch overlap by Jeffrey Lomika

" I'm doing my two-pass version of the pattern, which is more dense than the one pass version, and I like it. This is on a 100" square blanket that I intend to sleep under this winter."

"I'm using Carol's directions, that is, I do the bottoms with the diamonds, then the tops, then the bottoms of the second group, then the tops of the second group with the insides."

"I used a standard galvanized roofing nail to hold the template in place, and make the precise 3-inch slide for each pass. I drilled a 3/32 hole in the table through the template hole, and reamed it out to 1/8 after moving the template out of the way. I would have felt more comfortable with another pair of holes on the opposite corner, but it seems pretty sturdy with just the three I used."

7 Treasures by Carol Lyon

Carol Lyon found a better way to stitch the 7 Treasures template.
Below is her first quilt using this template.

Carol found a better way do the pattern. Instead of S curving through the template, she did it like clamshells. You can see the path in the drawing below. Red lines are the first pass through the lower half of the circle and the diamonds. The broken line above is just like a clamshell.
